EMG/Electromyography
Do you have numbness in your hands or feet? Maybe you have neck or back pain that radiates down your arm or leg (sciatica), or a footdrop or other weak muscles? A test called electromyography (EMG) can help diagnose why you have these symptoms. You may have carpal tunnel syndrome, a pinched nerve in your neck or back, or a different injury to nerves or muscles.
EMG and nerve conduction studies are tests performed using a computer, electrical impulses, and a fine wire placed into muscles to find the reason for pain, numbness, or weakness. Once this accurate diagnosis is made, the most effective treatment can be started.
